Mark Hamill says LA fires are ‘horrific’

MOn Tuesday night, Mark Hamill took to Instagram to share his family’s situation following their evacuation during the Palisades fire. Like many others, the actor gave a detailed timeline of how they evacuated their Malibu home and made it to safety. He recalled that at 7 p.m. they left Malibu “last-minute” while encountering small fires on either side of the road as they approached the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH).

Hamill then said that at 8:15 p.m., he, his wife Marilou York, and their pet dog Trixie arrived at his daughter Chelsea Hamill’s house in Hollywood. In the post’s caption, the actor said, “* there ‘were’ small fires* ^ (gimme a break- we were fleeing for our lives).” Hamill called this incident the “most horrific” since 1993 when the fire spread over 18,000 acres in Malibu and destroyed over 300 homes, reported the BBC. He ended the post by advising everyone to stay safe.

This update provided some relief to his fans, who expressed their relief at the star’s safety. Many quoted the iconic line from the “Star Wars” franchise: “May the Force be with you,” which they thought seemed appropriate in the context. Some users also expressed their gratitude to Hamill for bringing the family dog, Trixie, along with them.
