UPDATE: Lionel Messi doubts Inter Miami’s ability to play in the US Open final, coach Tata Martino admits that both the Argentine star and Jordi Alba will miss this weekend’s Orlando match after injuries in the match against Toronto

After being substituted out of Inter Miami’s game against Toronto on Wednesday night, both Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba will not be available for the club’s match against Orlando on Sunday. Inter Miami defeated Toronto 4-0.

And tata Martino, Messi’s coach, has confessed that it is now doubtful whether Messi will participate in the US open Cup final against Houston Dynamo the next week.

They continued their normal training, and we had the impression that they were ready to compete. My belief is that it is neither something new nor something worse than what they already had. Martino attributed it to being tired.

“I don’t think it’s a muscle injury,” the doctor said. They will not be able to participate in the match in Orlando, but I do not believe that they have suffered any serious injuries or muscle sprains. I believe that it is simply weariness.’

The head coach also mentioned that Messi will be monitored on a day-to-day basis up until the championship game on the following Wednesday in consultation with the medical staff. The victory over Toronto was the first of six matches that Miami would play in a span of 18 days.

After coming out of the game at Dr. PNK Stadium 10 minutes before the end of the first half with an injury to his right hamstring, Alba had ice applied to the area.

Messi cut a similarly furious figure as he handed over the captain’s armband and was replaced just 37 minutes into his return to MLS action. This occurred just a couple of minutes after the previous event.

Messi and Jordi were compelled to leave the building. There were two changes that were not anticipated. Martino had remarked at the halftime break that they would be evaluated in the coming days.

According to reports, this was only the eighth time in Messi’s 937 career starts that he was substituted prior to halftime, and it was the first time since October 2018 that this had happened.

The 36-year-old player was reinstated to the squad after being sidelined with’muscle tiredness’ on Saturday, when the team was defeated 5-2 in Atlanta. On that day, the player was absent from the team.

The loss dealt another blow to Miami’s chances of making the playoffs, but Messi returned to full participation in training on Tuesday, and the team immediately inserted him back into the starting lineup after the match.

Since the 4th of September, Messi had not played for Miami because he was away on international service. Because of this, Messi had missed both the team’s loss to Atlanta and their win against Kansas City.

Shortly after the double blow on Wednesday, Facundo Farias volleyed the ball into the net to give Miami the lead, and Martino’s side went on to win 4-0 in the end.

Benjamin Cremaschi and Robert Taylor both scored in the second half, with Robert Taylor scoring two outstanding goals after coming on to replace Lionel Messi.

In the moments just before the break, Messi was spotted making his way down the tunnel at Dr. PNK Stadium. He did not appear to be using any assistance while walking, but just before leaving the area, he appeared to adjust something. It was clear from the way he carried himself that he was done partying for the night.
